Discount Supplements are part of the foundations of the nutritional supplements industry and has been around for more than a decade. They are re-sellers of some of the biggest names in the industry and have repeatedly taken their own products to market.
The health and nutrition industry has been undergoing a transformation and becoming much more mainstream. Despite this, business revenue had been declining for 5 years, in line with a decline in the popularity of the core bodybuilding market.
This left Discount Supplements reliant on repeat purchases from their existing customer base. With new competitors entering the market providing consumers with more choices, they were a brand in decline.
The key to success was to transition the brand away from relying on sales promotions and towards generating new brand advocates by building brand affinity.
We focussed on a high-intent re-marketing approach that quickly created a steady predictable revenue stream. Combining this TV quality video ad showcasing the higher margin products the companies’ profits increased, allowing for further investment and growth through paid social.
High Intent Audience
Discounts had a large customer base and a wealth of 1st party data. One of the first ports of call was to build out campaigns that leveraged this data.
Knowing the fickleness of customers in this space we had to engage users quickly to keep them front of mind. We used a low funnel approach to re-target recent purchases with similar products that were of better margin for Discount. Allowing us to be more aggressive in the acquisition of these customers.
Putting the brand front and centre
Alongside these, we plugged the 1st party data into Facebook and asked them to find us more customers that look like them (with some parameters and guidance).
We filmed and edited some high-quality creatives, showcasing the brand and their own brand products and got these in front of in-market users. This drove high-intent users direct to the Discount Supplements website and by focusing on high-margin products we were able to be more aggressive in the acquisition of these.
Ongoing optimisations and the use of manual placements and smart budget optimisation have ensured continued growth over the last 9 months.
